Cyclocross Sponsorship

The 2017 cyclocross season is about to kick off and we’ve got some exciting news to share about our sponsorship of a small cyclocrossrider.com Racing Team.

Our guess is that cyclocross racers probably break more derailleur hangers per head than any other riders, it is rare to see the end of a cyclocross race without someone, somewhere breaking their rear mech. It appears to be an occupational hazard and with BETD manufacturing one of the UK’s largest collection of mech hangers, it was a no-brainer for us to support the team through the upcoming season.

The team has been established for four cyclocross winter seasons, focusing on getting results whilst maximising their own and others enjoyment of the sport. Riders have won the 3 peaks cycle cross race every season in the women under 23 category and now boast the men’s under 23 winner.

Meet the Team:

Edwyn: Racing since he was a young boy, Edwyn’s particular speciality is the 3 peaks cyclocross race where he has been on the under 23 podium in 2013, 2015 and a U23 winner in 2016. Edwyn also competes at MTBO and has represented Great Britain at the European Championships, where he won a silver and bronze medal. He now races ‘cross in regional leagues near to Bath University, where he is currently studying civil engineering.

Hannah: Similarly to Edwyn, Hannah has been racing bikes in MTB, cyclocross and road racing since a very young age. A fearless rider she specialises in MTB downhill as well as MTB cross country and last year took victory in the 3 peaks under 23 category, also setting a new course record. Hannah also made history recently by becoming the youngest ever woman to complete the gruelling Bob Graham 42 fells running challenge in under 24 hours.

Libby: Libby has twice represented Yorkshire in ‘cross and has finished 2nd and 6th in the last two Winter Yorkshire cyclocross series. She finished last season with her first outright win in a Yorkshire regional race, as well as getting her first taste of the National Trophy and Championships, which she is planning to race again next season. Libby is also doing exceptionally well in her triathlon training at the world-renowned Leeds Triathlon Centre and she regularly competes in this sport representing her university.

Where can you see the team next?

55th Annual Three Peaks Cyclocross – Staged in the Yorkshire Dales National Park on Sunday 24th of September this event is considered the toughest cyclo-cross event in the UK.
