Crankworx Les Gets 2017

This weekend was the annual Crankworx festival which took place in Les Gets. The competition was as always fierce and we’re going to take a look at the event and a couple of the results of the always exciting events that took place there!

Les Gets
Les Gets is located in the south east of France and is a fantastic place for skiing in the winter but when summer rolls around it’s a place of allurement for mountain bikers and skilled riders making it a fantastic place for this year’s Crankworx venue

Dual Speed and Style
One of the most exciting events at the gathering for its fast paced heats and talented riders. The competition favourites all delivered in fine fashion with tipped winner Jakub Vencl taking the top spot. The podium was shared by Vencl with the #3 seed Daryl Brown who took silver and the #3 seed Martin Soderstrom who took bronze.

Pump Track
Potentially the most exhilarating competition on display at Crankworx is the pump track. Riders essentially defy physics as they blaze around a track at speed at the same time as their opponent. This makes for some seriously close finishes and the occasional dramatic tumble. 8 women took part in this year’s pump track with Jill Kintner qualifying as the favourite and then taking the gold after a close competition with #2 seed Caroline Buchanan. It’s a shame only 8 women took part in the Pump Track since the competition is so exciting we’d have loved to have seen a few more battles from the women!

32 men were involved in the pump track and it was a truly brilliant competition due in no small part to the underdog display put on by #22 seed Edward Masters who sadly fell just short of a podium place after dispatching of the #11 #6 and even the #3 seed on his way to the small final where he was beaten to the bronze by #1 seed Mitch Ropelato. In the big final we saw Adrien Loron take on Chaney Guennet in a clash of the titans that would eventually see Adrien Loron take home the gold!
