Where to Take Your MTB this Summer

As the weather gets warmer and the days get longer, the prospect of summer mountain biking is likely to be high on your priority list. Whether you’re an experienced rider or a complete novice, anybody can enjoy the thrill of specialist MTB trails, with an increasing number of areas and centres opening up across the country. If you’re looking for the ideal place to take your mountain bike this summer, BETD have narrowed down two of our top picks within the UK and Europe to get you inspired. Don’t forget to give your bike components a thorough check over for any wear and tear, before you set off on your trip.

Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park, Wales

Known by many as the premier place for mountain biking in the UK, Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park in Wales was the first forest to be specifically developed for the sport. With a range of accessible routes suitable for everyone from beginners to technical experts, the trail network also includes an area to test and develop your riding. Additional to this are facilities including changing rooms, a café, and an eco visitor centre, so you can make a full day or weekend trip of it.

Les Deux Alpes, France

If you’re searching for trails further afield, turn your head to the Alps in Europe. In the winter, Les Deux Alpes in France is a high altitude ski resort – but come summertime, opens up its slopes to mountain bikers. The area features more than 70 miles of cross country & downhill trails, which are primarily tailored towards experienced riders and professionals. Before heading abroad on any trip, we recommend checking your MTB’s chain rings and bearings for any parts that may need replacing – particularly before embarking upon challenging trails.
